10 reasons Misfits should not be playing “Earth A.D.” in full

Misfits
Misfits

It was announced today that the bassist-turned-frontman Jerry Only-led Misfits will be co-headlining This is Hardcore in Philadelphia with a special set where they’ll be playing their 1983 album “Earth A.D.” in full.

Under normal circumstances, this would be really exciting: classic band playing classic album (bonus points because the album was released shortly after the Misfits broke up). It’s a well tested, nostalgia-filled gimmick that we all love, BUT YOU’RE NOT SUPPOSED TO DO IT IF THE CURRENT VERSION OF YOUR BAND DOESN’T EVEN CONTAIN THE ORIGINAL VOCALIST AND SONGWRITER WHO WROTE THAT CLASSIC ALBUM. That’s not how this thing is supposed to work, especially if the only current member of the band-that-still-calls-themselves-Misfits who played on that album is the bassist.

We were just starting to get used to the current version of Misfits being a thing, a thing we could live with and not think too much about, but now it’s like a fresh wound all over again.

Below are 10 reasons we think the Misfits should not be playing Earth A.D. in full…
