Dreamville

It’s a holiday week so there’s a little less here than usual, but the new Dreamville compilation is out today (more on that in Notable Releases and it’s also streaming below alongside the accompanying documentary), and we’ve also got the new albums from Westside Gunn (ft. Alchemist, Madlib, Raekwon, and more) and Jaden Smith (ft. Tyler the Creator, A$AP Rocky, Kid Cudi, and more), the new 03 Greedo + Travis Barker EP, and new singles from CupcakKke, Post Malone/Young Thug, Snoop Dogg, Jeezy, Rick Ross, Maliibu Miitch, and more. Read on for all the hip hop we posted on BV this week…

CUPCAKKE – “AYESHA”

The unstoppable CupcakKe is back with another banger, “Ayesha.”

POST MALONE – “GOODBYES” (ft. YOUNG THUG)

The ever-popular Post Malone has tapped the uncategorizable Young Thug for his latest single, “Goodbyes.” It’s a ballad, and it comes with a very expensive looking video that plays out like a Western meets zombie movie.

WESTSIDE GUNN – FLYGOD IS AN AWESOME GOD (ALBUM STREAM)

The Griselda crew is on fire lately. Benny the Butcher just dropped his very solid new project The Plugs I Met and now Westside Gunn is back with a new 12-song album, featuring such producers and guests as The Alchemist, Madlib, Raekwon, Conway, Benny, Evidence, Meyhem Lauren, DJ Muggs, and more.

SNOOP DOGG – “I WANNA THANK ME”

Last fall, Snoop Dogg got a Hollywood Walk of Fame star, and his acceptance speech went viral after he said “last but not least, I wanna thank me.” I Wanna Thank Me is now also the title for Snoop’s next album and accompanying movie, which is due this summer, and the first single/title track is out now. The song starts off by sampling that very Walk of Fame acceptance speech, and it becomes a classic-sounding Snoop song where he tells his come-up story. The song’s music video also features footage from the Walk of Fame.

JEEZY – “1 TIME”

Veteran Atlanta rapper Jeezy has been saying since last year that he’s gearing up to release Thug Motivation 104: Trust Ya Process, which will be his final album. Still no concrete word on that, but he’s now back with new single “1 Time” which sounds like classic Jeezy.

RICK ROSS – “BIG TYME” (ft. SWIZZ BEATZ, prod. JUST BLAZE)

It should be no surprise that Rick Ross sounds like a million bucks over a triumphant Just Blaze beat.

JADEN SMITH – ERYS (ft. TYLER THE CREATOR, A$AP ROCKY, KID CUDI)

Jaden Smith’s new album ERYS is out today via MSFTS Music/Roc Nation/Republic and it features Tyler the Creator, A$AP Rocky, Kid Cudi, and more.

03 GREEDO & TRAVIS BARKER – MEET THE DRUMMERS (EP STREAM)

LA rapper 03 Greedo was on the rise until he was sentenced to 20 years in prison on drug and gun possession charges in 2018, though he has continued to release music since his incarceration. This week, he released a collaborative EP with blink-182 drummer Travis Barker. Greedo says, “Once we were done with the project and had a friendly relationship was when I really got to appreciate the moment [of working with someone I grew up a fan of]. It trips me out still when I talk to him while I’m locked up. He checks in on how I’m doing. It blew my mind when I put him on my visiting list to come see me.”

MALIIBU MIITCH – “CELINE”

Bronx rapper Maliibu Miitch, who we named one of the best new artists of 2017, is gearing up to release a new project called If Dead Men Can Talk. The first single is the atmospheric, ominous “Celine.”
