11 New Rap Songs Out This Week

Among today’s new hip hop releases are the highly anticipated JPEGMAFIA and Sampa The Great albums, both of which I wrote about for Notable Releases, and the new Conway album is out today too. We also got new singles from slowthai/Denzel Curry, clipping., FKA twigs/Future, Blimes & Gab, MIKE, and more. Read on for all the hip hop we posted on BV this week…

SLOWTHAI & DENZEL CURRY – “PSYCHO”

slowthai and Denzel Curry have been playing their great collaborative single “Psycho” live for a bit, and now the studio version is finally here. It’s even better recorded.

CLIPPING. – “LA MALA ORDINA” (ft. BENNY THE BUTCHER, ELCAMINO, THE RITA)

“La Mala Ordina” is the laters single off avant-rap trio clipping.’s upcoming album, and you can read more about it here.

FKA TWIGS – “HOLY TERRAIN” (ft. FUTURE, co-prod. SKRILLEX, JACK ANTONOFF)

FKA twigs has shared the second single off her anticipated new album, and this one features Future and was co-produced with Skrillex and Jack Antonoff. Read more here.

BLIMES & GAB – “FEELIN IT”

San Francisco/Seattle hip hop duo Blimes & Gab (aka Blimes and Gifted Gab, fka B.A.G.) went viral with last year’s “Come Correct,” and now they’re back with another fun jam, “Feelin It.” They also announced a tour, including LA’s Uncool Festival at the Palladium on 10/25, Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right on 11/8, and more. All dates here.

MIKE – “STORM & THE CALM”

The highly prolific experimental NYC rapper MIKE is back with another new single, which finds him delivering his dead-eyed bars over a more lively, soulful backdrop than usual.

MAJOR LAZER – “QUE CALOR” (ft. J BALVIN & EL ALFA)

Major Lazer is back with a new single, which features the unstoppable urbano star J Balvin and Dominican rapper El Alfa, and all three artists bring their own styles to this one, making for a very fun multi-cultural jam.

BLACK COFFEE & USHER – “LALALA”

Usher has teamed with South African DJ/producer Black Coffee for a new collaborative single, “LaLaLa,” which sees Usher delivering his unmistakable croon over breezy, danceable production.

DEAN BLUNT – ZUSHI! (ft. two new PANDA BEAR collabs, A$AP ROCKY, more)

Dean Blunt is back with a new 39-minute mix/project, and buried within are two new Panda Bear collaborations, “In Plain Sight” (starting around the 1:05 mark) and “Moments” (starting around the 12:25 mark). Both are cut from a similarly earthy, guitar-oriented cloth as Panda Bear’s latest album Buoys, and they fit right in with the airy singer/songwriter vibe of the mix’s first half. Other contributors top the mixtape include A$AP Rocky, Mica Levi, Joanne Robertson, Jonatan Leandoer96 (aka Yung Lean), DJ Escrow, and Sauce Walka. A$AP Rocky comes in around the 29:40 mark.

OPEN MIKE EAGLE – “THE EDGE OF NEW CLOTHES”

The Needle Drop‘s Anthony Fantano curated a benefit compilation, with proceeds going to The Immigration Legal Resource Center. Open Mike Eagle opens the comp with “The Edge of New Clothes.”

SNOOP DOGG, MIGOS, KAROL G & ROCK MAFIA – “MY FAMILY”

Snoop Dogg has been involved in various projects outside of music in recent years, with one recent effort being a voice role in the upcoming animated film The Addams Family, as the character Cousin It. To promote his appearance, he’s dropped a collaboration with Migos, which contains a childish flair that would probably fare well with the film’s target audience.

DRAKE – “BEHIND BARZ FREESTYLE”

Drake has recently been instrumental in reviving the UK crime drama Top Boy, whose third season recently premiered on Netflix, after ending its original run in 2013. Aside from helping bring the show back from the dead, he also curated the series’ official soundtrack, which includes tracks from some of Drake’s collaborators and friends, such as Little Simz, Dave, Popcaan, Giggs, and more. Drake himself also contributed to the soundtrack by releasing a studio version of his “Behind Barz” freestyle, which was originally released in 2018.
