12 New Rap and R&B Songs Out This Week

070 Shake - MODUS VIVENDI

It’s been a pretty big week for hip hop, with the surprise new Eminem album (more on that here), Madlib and Oh No’s debut album as The Professionals (more on that in Notable Releases), and new albums from Dreamville, 070 Shake, and the late Mac Miller (more on those below). We also got new singles from 2 Chainz/Future, Polo G/Lil Tjay, Thundercat, TOKiMONSTA/Earthgang, Pop Smoke, and more. Read on for all the new rap and R&B we posted this week…

JID, EARTHGANG & VINCE STAPLES – “UP UP AWAY”

Dreamville put out the deluxe edition of Revenge of the Dreamers III today, and one major highlight is this song where Vince Staples joins Dreamville JID and EarthGang. Vince has been busy lately, but it’s been a minute since we’ve heard him go this hard.

2 CHAINZ & FUTURE – “DEAD MAN WALKING”

2 Chainz (who released one of last year’s best rap albums and Future (who’s fresh off a new world-dominating Drake collab) have come together for the moody “Dead Man Walking.”

POLO G & LIL TJAY – “FIRST PLACE”

Polo G and Lil Tjay are two of the most hyped singer-rappers at the moment, and they’ve put their heads together for this new song.

ROYCE DA 5’9″ – “OVERCOMER” (ft. WESTSIDE GUNN)

Not only did Eminem release a surprise new album today that includes three songs featuring longtime associate Royce Da 5’9″, Royce debuted a new single off his upcoming album The Allegory which features Westside Gunn of the Shady Records-signed Griselda crew and takes shots at former Shady artist Yelawolf. The Allegory drops next week, and it also features Em, all three Griselda members, G Perico, YBN Cordae, and more.

THUNDERCAT – “BLACK QUALLS” (ft. STEVE LACY & STEVE ARRINGTON)

Fresh off releasing recent single “Price Went Up,” genre-defying artist NNAMDÏ (fka Nnamdi Ogbonnaya) has announced a new album, BRAT (due April 3 via his own Sooper Records), and released another new single, “WASTED.” This one kinda finds him in James Blake/Frank Ocean territory, but he really makes it his own.

Nigerian artist Obongjayar has shared another song off his upcoming EP Which Way Is Forward?, and it’s a real head-trip of a song and impossible to pigeonhole.

070 Shake has been on the rise for a while, since signing to G.O.O.D. Music and frequently collaborating with Kanye, and now her official debut album is finally here.

MAC MILLER – CIRCLES

The late Mac Miller had been working on Circles with producer Jon Brion, a “sister” album to 2018’s Swimming, before his untimely passing, and since then Jon Brion put the finishing touches on it and Mac’s family released it into the world today.
