12 New Rap Songs Out This Week

This week gave us two great new rap albums — EarthGang and IDK — which I wrote about over in Notable Releases. We also got the sure-to-be-extremely-popular Post Malone album (embedded below) and new singles from Danny Brown, Rico Nasty, Stormzy, Homeboy Sandman, Injury Reserve/JPEGMAFIA/Code Orange, Fat Joe/Cardi B/Anuel AA, Sporting Life/MIKE/Wiki, Conway/Benny the Butcher/Westside Gunn, and more. Read on for all the hip hop we posted on BV this week…

DANNY BROWN – “DIRTY LAUNDRY”

Danny Brown officially announced his new album and first single “Dirty Laundry” is out now. Read more about it here.

INJURY RESERVE – “HPNCGC” (ft. JPEGMAFIA & CODE ORANGE)

Injury Reserve are back with a new loosie featuring two pretty amazing guests, and you can read more about it here.

FAT JOE, CARDI B & ANUEL AA – “YES”

Bronx rappers Fat Joe and Cardi B and Puerto Rican trap star Anuel AA have teamed up for a killer new collab.

RICO NASTY – “FASHION WEEK”

New York Fashion Week is underway, and in conjunction with that, Rico Nasty dropped a new song called “Fashion Week.” Rico’s been one of the most promising new rappers around for a while, and this new song is even more proof that her rise is unstoppable.

STORMZY – “SOUNDS OF THE SKENG”

UK rapper Stormzy has been dropping some pretty great singles this year, and the new “Sounds of the Skeng” is no different. Sir Spyro provides him with dark, booming production, and Stormzy sounds absolutely menacing over it.

SPORTING LIFE – “CRUX” (ft. MIKE & WIKI)

NYC beatmaker Sporting Life has shared a song off his upcoming Black Diamond EP (due 9/27), which features two great rappers from NYC’s underground, MIKE and Sporting Life’s former Ratking groupmate Wiki. Sporting Life gives “Crux” a warped, psychedelic backdrop, and it’s — not surprisingly — the perfect fit for Wiki and MIKE.

EARTHGANG – “READY TO DIE”

Not only is EarthGang’s great new album Mirrorland out this week, they also released this non-album track which is just as killer as anything on the album.

CONWAY – “TITO’S BACK” (ft. BENNY THE BUTCHER & WESTSIDE GUNN)

The whole Griselda Records crew (including in-house producer Daringer) unites on this new song, which will appear on Conway’s new album Look What I Became…, due September 13 via Griselda. These guys have all made careers out of keeping the menacing sounds of ’90s New York rap alive and well, and this song is no exception.

HOMEBOY SANDMAN – “FAR OUT”

Underground rap lifer Homeboy Sandman remains very active and prolific, and he’ll release the new album Dusty on October 18 via Mello Music Group. It’s got 15 new songs, including one with Quelle Chris and Your Old Droog, and the first to be shared is the groovy “Far Out.”

MELII – “NO HARD FEELINGS”

Rising Harlem rapper/singer Melii is gearing up for a a tour with Summer Walker, and ahead of that, she follows her debut album phAses with the new single “No Hard Feelings.” It’s a chilled-out song that finds Melii in R&B mode, and it’s very cool stuff.

FRANCIS AND THE LIGHTS – “TAKE ME TO THE LIGHT” (ft. KANYE WEST & BON IVER)

Francis and the Lights is back with a new song that features two of past collaborators, Kanye West and Bon Iver, and it’s an atmospheric pop song that pretty much sounds like what you’d expect from this trio.

POST MALONE – HOLLYWOOD’S BLEEDING

The extremely popular sing-rapper Post Malone’s new album is out today, and it features SZA, DaBaby, Future, Meek Mill, Young Thug, Swae Lee, Halsey, Travis Scott, Lil Baby, and, surprisingly enough, Ozzy Osbourne. Posty is overshadowed by his guests at times, and the album is too long, but it has its moments.
