Flying Lotus & Denzel Curry

12 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so little time. Each week we review five new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, show recaps, track premieres, and more all day. That includes a lot of tour announcements, a list of tonight’s NYC shows, and NY shows that just went on sale. We publish a monthly playlist of some of our favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place…

FLYING LOTUS – “BLACK BALLOON REPRISE” (FEAT. DENZEL CURRY)

Flying Lotus’s guest-filled new album, Flamagra, is due out Friday, and he’s shared another single from it ahead of its release. This one is with Denzel Curry, and it serves as the third part to “BLACK BALLOONS | 13LACK 13ALLOONZ” and “THE BLACKEST BALLOON | THE 13LACKEZT 13ALLOON” from his 2018 album TA13OO. “THE TRILOGY IS COMPLETE,” Denzel said on Twitter.

RUSSIAN CIRCLES – “ARLUCK”

Chicago’s Russian Circles are back with their seventh album, Blood Year, which will be out August 2 via Sargent House. The trio made the bulk of the record live in studio without click tracks, aiming to capture the power of their live shows. You can get a feel for that with the towering “Arluck.”

PELICAN – “COLD HOPE”

Need more instrumental metal? Pelican have just shared another track from their new album Nighttime Stories which is out in a couple weeks. “Cold Hope” is a pummeling ripper that also knows how to soar.

MIKE DONOVAN – “B.O.C. RATE APPLIED”

Onetime Sic Alps frontman Mike Donovan will drop his new solo joint Exurbian Quonset this Friday and here’s another early taste. “B.O.C. Rate Applied” has a bucolic Kinks quality to it, in that low-fi way Donovan prefers.

PETER PERRETT – “HEAVENLY DAY”

Former Only Ones frontman Peter Perret has just shared a new single from his forthcoming solo album, Humanworld. The jangling “Heavenly Day” has Perrett showing the same romantic charm of “Another Girl, Another Planet,” here seeing “infinity mirrors in the depths of your eyes.”

VICTIMS – “THE SEA AND POISON”

Long-running Stockholm hardcore crust-punks Victims are making their Relapse Records debut on June 28 with The Horse and Sparrow Theory. “The Sea and Poison” is the latest track they’ve shared from the album.

BAD HEAVEN LTD. – “STRENGTH”

Bad Heaven Ltd. the project of Philadelphia’s John Galm (Snowing, Street Smart Cyclist, and Slow Warm Death), also featuring former TWIABP guitarist Tyler Bussey. They released their debut album cool hell in 2016, and are now preparing its follow-up, strength, due out August 2. “There’s nothing strong about the song ‘strength,'” Galm says about the album’s title track. According to him, it’s about “being young and thinking you’re doing a really good job, but you’re just young and dumb. A young dummy.”

JOVIALE – “DREAMBOAT”

Joviale is the newest signing to Blue Flowers Music, the label that introduced us to Nilufer Yanya and Westerman. The London-based musician makes swoony pop, that has one foot in the singer-songwriter world, but with sultry, intriguing arrangements. “Dreamboat” is her debut single and is jazzy, sumptuous and inviting.

SAVAK – “CAROLINA LIGHT”

Brooklyn indie rock combo SAVAK, which includes members of Obits, Holy Fuck, The Cops, and more, have a new EP due out this fall, but “the first song decided to take an early walk around the block for anyone interested in inspecting its less than leisurely gait.”

FALLS OF RAUROS – “WEAPONS OF REFUSAL”

Portland, ME’s Falls of Rauros have been together since the mid-’00s, making a brand of black metal you could call elegant in a punishing kind of way. “Weapons of Refusal,” from their upcoming Patterns in Mythology, could soundtrack a royal ceremony (albeit an extremely visceral, intense one). Check the song out over at Revolver.

EZRA FURMAN – “CALM DOWN AKA I SHOULD NOT BE ALONE”

Ezra calls his new album Twelve Nudes a “spiritually queer” punk record and “a slice of pure agitated rage.” You can hear what Ezra means on the “freaked-out banger” of a first single.

KYLE CRAFT & SHOWBOAT HONEY – “BROKEN MIRROR POSE”

Kyle Craft‘s new album Showboat Honey out July 12 via Sub Pop and he’s just shared new single “Broken Mirror Pose,” a glammy, ’70s style anthem with a soaring chorus.
