14 New Rap Songs Out This Week

This week included new music from Ty Dolla $ign, YG, Flying Lotus, Beast Coast, Nicky Jam, Joey Fats, Denzel Curry, Chris Crack, Open Mike Eagle with Method Man, Young Thug, and more. Read on for all the hip hop we posted on BV this week…

TY DOLLA $IGN – “PURPLE EMOJI” (FEAT. J COLE)

In an interview with Zane Lowe today, Ty Dolla $ign said he’s “just finishing up” a new album. “It’s definitely my favorite album I’ve done yet,” Ty said. “My most personal, really talking the talk, lot more serious songs but a couple party songs, bangers and stuff.” Ahead of that, he shared a new collaboration with J Cole, made while he was in the studio with Kanye West in NYC.

FLYING LOTUS – FLAMAGRA (ALBUM STREAM)

Flying Lotus isn’t the kind of producer who needs an all-star cast of guest vocalists to make a compelling album from start to finish, but that doesn’t make it any less exciting when he chooses to use one. Flamagra has ten guest vocalists across its 27 songs, including Anderson .Paak, Solange, Denzel Curry, and Shabazz Palaces and more. Read our review of the album.

BEAST COAST – ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK (ALBUM STREAM)

Near the beginning of the current decade, a new group of Brooklyn rappers emerged — including Flatbush Zombies, The Underachievers, and Pro Era (of which Joey Bada$$ is a member) — and they referred to the movement they were starting as Beast Coast. They toured together, collaborated together, and now they’re using the Beast Coast name for the new ten-person supergroup they’ve formed with all three members of Flatbush Zombies, all two members of The Underachievers, and Pro Era’s Joey Bada$$, Kirk Knight, Nyck Caution, CJ Fly, and Powers Pleasant. And if you’re into any or all of the members’ own projects, you should warm up to Beast Coast’s debut album Escape From New York in no time. Read our review here.

NICKY JAM, J BALVIN, ANUEL AA, ARCANGEL – “VEN Y HAZLO TU”

US-born, Puerto Rico-raised singer Nicky Jam teams up with previous collaborators J Balvin, Anuel AA, and Arcángel for this trap track.

JOEY FATTS – CHIPPER JONES VOL. 4 (ALBUM STREAM)

CA rapper Joey Fatts has released a new mixtape that finds him working again with previous collaborator Vince Staples, as well as Dave East and JSMN.

SHENSEEA – “BLESSED” (FEAT. TYGA)

Jamaican dancehall singer Shenseea signed to Rich Immigrants/Interscope Records with a new single, “Blessed,” She co-wrote the track, which is accompanied by an Arrad-directed video.

DENZEL CURRY – “SPEEDBOAT”

Denzel Curry announced ZUU, his follow-up to 2018’s TA13OO, and shared its first single, “SPEEDBOAT,” which we wrote more about here.

CHRIS CRACK – “ICEBERG DALI”

Prolific Chicago rapper Chris Crack shared a new Adult Swim single, “Iceberg Dali.” It follows his recent albums Crackheads Live Longer Than Vegans, The Future Will Be Confusing, and Never Hated I Just Waited, all three of which he released in 2019.

OPEN MIKE EAGLE & METHOD MAN – “EAT YOUR FEELINGS”

Each episode of Open Mike Eagle and Baron Vaughn’s Comedy Central show The New Negroes features a series of stand-up comedians and then ends with an original song/video by Open Mike Eagle and a new guest artist each week. This week’s episode features “Eat Your Feelings” with Method Man and a satiric video directed by Lance Bangs, where a dinner party serves up coveted luxury items rather than food.

YOUNG THUG – “THE LONDON” (FEAT. J. COLE & TRAVIS SCOTT)

T-Minus produced this new single, teased on flyers at Rolling Loud Miami, a joint effort from Young Thug, J. Cole and Travis Scott.

$UICIDEBOY$ & TRAVIS BARKER – LIVE FAST DIE WHENEVER (EP STREAM)

New Orleans rap duo $uicideboy$ already toe the line between rock and hip hop (Trash Talk and Turnstile are among the acts on their upcoming tour), and now they’ve taken that a step further by releasing an entire collaborative EP with blink-182 drummer Travis Barker (who has his own history of rap/rock crossover including blink’s upcoming tour with Lil Wayne).

IDK – “DIGITAL”

Rising Maryland rapper IDK (formerly Jay IDK) is preparing to release Is He Real later this year, and “Digital” is that album’s first single.

YG – “STOP SNITCHIN” (REMIX FT. DABABY)

YG’s new album 4REAL 4REAL is out today, and, among other things, it includes a recording of YG’s tribute to Nipsey Hussle from Nipsey’s memorial service, and a new remix of one of its best songs (and lead single), “Stop Snitchin,” now featuring a new verse from rising rapper DaBaby. DaBaby continues to prove he’s a rapper to watch, and he makes a good song even better.

BLOCBOY JB – “MERCEDES”

Memphis rapper Blocboy JB has shared a new single, “Mercedes.” It comes just days after his new “Ric Flair” video, which was directed by Zach Hurth.
