This week saw the release of the new Offset album (the final solo debut by a Migos member), as well as new albums by Smif-N-Wessun, Kehlani, Gunna, Lil Pump, Giggs, and more. We also got the lead single off the anticipated new Freddie Gibbs & Madlib album, another single presumably off Wiki’s next project, a new single from Jay Rock who had one of last year’s best albums, Tierra Whack’s first single since her breaktrhough Whack World, a new collab from HEALTH and JPEGMAFIA, and more. Plus, Vince Staples played NYC (review, pics). Keep scrolling for all the new rap songs we posted on BV this week…

FREDDIE GIBBS & MADLIB – “FLAT TUMMY TEA”

Freddie Gibbs and Madlib proved to be a perfect pair on 2014’s great Pinata, and they’ve been teasing another collaborative album called Bandana. Now it’s finally, officially announced, and they’ve shared lead single “Flat Tummy Tea.” Like on Pinata, they really bring out the best in each other on this song. Gibbs’ rhymes are even sharper than they were on the couple great projects he put out last year, and Madlib’s production is as futuristic as ever.

JAY ROCK – “THE OTHER SIDE” (ft. MOZZY & DCMBR)

Jay Rock released one of the best rap albums of last year with Redemption, and now he’s back with a new single that proves he is not slowing down. Over a head-nodding West Coast beat from Cardo, Jay Rock and Mozzy trade verses and both sound tough as nails. DCMBR tops it off with a nice soulful hook.

BLUEFACE – “THOTIANA” (REMIX FT. CARDI B)

Just after releasing her new song with Bruno Mars, Cardi B hopped on a new remix of “Thotiana” by the fast-rising Blueface. The song’s hook was already undeniable, but Cardi’s tough-as-nails guest verse takes “Thotiana” to a new level.

DOJA CAT – “TIA TAMERA” (ft. RICO NASTY)

Doja Cat, who is more than just the “bitch, i’m a cow!” meme, has a new single out featuring the great Rico Nasty. Doja Cat sounds great on this and isn’t messing around at all, and Rico’s verse is a true show-stopper.

TIERRA WHACK – “ONLY CHILD”

Philadelphia’s Tierra Whack has shared her first new song since the release of her acclaimed 2018 audiovisual album, Whack World. “You must be the only child because you’re so stingy,” Tierra sings on “Only Child.” “It’s not your fault, it’s how you were raised.”

HEALTH & JPEGMAFIA – “HATE YOU”

Noise pop-turned-industrial rock band HEALTH just released their very good new album VOL. 4 :: SLAVES OF FEAR (read our review), but they aren’t done with the series of collaborative non-album singles that they began ahead of SLAVES OF FEAR‘s release. Following collabs with indie pop artist Soccer Mommy, synthwaver Perturbator and EBM duo Youth Code, they’ve now got a collab out with avant-rapper/producer JPEGMAFIA called “HATE YOU.” It’s basically JPEGMAFIA rapping over a HEALTH instrumental, and the two are a great pair.

WIKI – “CHEAT CODE”

Wiki still hasn’t announced a followup to his excellent 2017 album No Mountains In Manhattan, but he’s been rolling out singles and clearly has something up his sleeve. Following “In The Park” and “Elixir,” he now dropped “Cheat Code,” which finds Wiki sounding menacing as ever over a dark, hypnotic beat. And like much of No Mountains In Manhattan, it’s partially an ode to the city that made him. “The song is sort of about the question of if there’s a cheat code to life,” Wiki says. “Ultimately there isn’t. I talk about cheat codes specifically and drop some references, but I also talk about coming up and getting around in New York. It’s a joint. It bangs. It’s produced by my guy Tony Seltzer who’s also from New York.” It’s great stuff, and it’s making us more excited for more Wiki music, which is coming this year.

RICO NASTY – “SANDY”

Rico Nasty continues to be on a roll. After releasing one of the best albums of 2018 she put out the very fun “Roof” single last month and now she dropped another new single, “Sandy.” It’s produced by frequent producer Kenny Beats, it comes with a Zack Fox-directed video, and it’s more proof that Rico can’t be stopped.

MC REN – “KING VILLAIN”

NWA’s MC Ren returns with his first solo single in five years, “King Villain,” which sees Ren delivering booming, classic West Coast rhymes over ominous modern production. “A lot of people from my era stick to the script a lot of the times and don’t want to go from that blueprint,” Ren told Ambrosia For Heads. “I just wanted to do something totally different, get out of my element and try something totally new.”

KEHLANI – “NUNYA” (feat. DOM KENNEDY)

Kehlani’s, While We Wait, dropped on Friday. Ahead of its release she shared another new single, “Nunya,” featuring Los Angeles rapper Dom Kennedy.

CHIEF KEEF & ZAYTOVEN – “SPY KID”

Chief Keef is teaming with producer Zaytoven for the collaborative album GloToven, which comes out March 15 via Glo Gang/RBC, and new single “Spy Kid” is streaming now. Keef is mostly in auto-tune mode, which pairs well with Zaytoven’s ice-cold production.

SLOWTHAI – “PEACE OF MIND”

UK rapper slowthai is preparing to release his debut album Nothing Great About Britain this year via Method Records/True Panther, and he shared the new single “Peace of Mind,” which sees him spitting over dark, stuttering production that’s a great fit for his attitude-fueled style.

GIGGS – “187”

UK rapper (and Drake collaborator) Giggs is released his new album BIG BAD on Friday (featuring Jadakiss, Lil Yachty, French Montana, Swizz Beatz, and more), and he just dropped its new single “187.” As far as UK rap goes, “187” has got a pretty strong American trap influence, and it’s cool to hear these two worlds collide.

LIL PUMP – “BE LIKE ME” (ft. LIL WAYNE)

Lil Pump’s album Harverd Dropout came out this week, and ahead of its release, Pump shared another new single. “Everybody wanna be like me,” Pump repeats ad nauseam, and then he brings in veteran “Lil” rapper Lil Wayne, who almost maybe sorta says Pump wants to be like him (“y’all my mini-mes”), but ultimately he co-signs Pump.

OFFSET – “CLOUT” (ft. CARDI B)

Offset’s debut solo album Father of 4 is out now and the best part about it is that it features a killer Cardi B verse on “Clout.”
