20 New Rap Songs Out This Week

It’s been a very busy week in the hip hop world, with new projects from Gucci Mane, MIKE, Benny the Butcher, Mach-Hommy, and more, and new singles from YBN Cordae/Chance the Rapper, the late Mac Miller, Drake, Migos, Stormzy, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Mustard, The Game, and more. Also, the Lil Nas X EP finally came out and it is not good. Read on for all the hip hop songs we posted on BV this week…

YBN CORDAE – “BAD IDEA” (ft. CHANCE THE RAPPER)

YBN Cordae’s debut solo project The Lost Boy is one of the year’s most anticipated rap debuts, and that anticipation just rose thanks to this new single featuring Chance the Rapper. Chance and Cordae sound great together, and both are breezing through this song’s laid-back production.

88-KEYS – “THAT’S LIFE” (ft. MAC MILLER & SIA)

The posthumous Mac Miller recordings keep coming, and this one’s on the first 88-Keys solo single in eight years. It also features pop giant Sia, and it’s gorgeous song and another reminder that Mac was taken from us way too soon.

MIGOS – “STRIPPER BOWL”

Migos apparently threw a part where they spent $3 million on strippers, and now they wrote a song about it.

DRAKE – “OMERTA” & “MONEY IN THE GRAVE” (ft. RICK ROSS)

Drake returned over the weekend with two new songs, “Omertà” and “Money in the Grave” (ft. Rick Ross). Both find Drake in chest-puffed rap mode, and — as he often does — sounding very literally like a million bucks.

MIKE – TEARS OF JOY

Prolific underground New York rapper MIKE returns with a new 20-song project featuring guest vocals by duendita and production by DJ Blackpower (aka MIKE), Sporting Life, Navy Blue, and others.

STORMZY – “CROWN”

Stormzy is back with “Crown,” and it’s the grime artist’s second single of 2019 following the great “Vossi Bop.” This one is more of a gospel-tinged ballad compared to its predecessor, and proof that Stormzy continues to expand his sound.

BENNY THE BUTCHER – THE PLUGS I MET

Rising Buffalo rapper Benny the Butcher’s music brings you bright back to ’90s New York rap, and he does a lot of justice to that sound. His new 7-song The Plugs I Met project is out now, featuring his Griselda associate Conway and a few vets who likely influenced him like Jadakiss, Black Thought, and Pusha T. If you like those guys, you’re gonna wanna hear this.

NICKI MINAJ – “MEGATRON”

Nicki Minaj follows last year’s Queen with new single “Megatron,” a very fun track that finds Nicki in fine form.

TRINA – “BAPS” (ft. NICKI MINAJ)

Veteran rapper Trina put out her new album The One this week, and it includes this new Nicki Minaj collab. It’s a banger, and Trina and Nicki go hard on this one.

MACH-HOMMY – WAP KONN JOJ! (ft. QUELLE CHRIS, EARL SWEATSHIRT, YOUR OLD DROOG & more)

Mach-Hommy is back with a new seven-song project called Wap Konn Jòj!, and it features an impressive cast of alternative-minded rappers. If you like your rap sounding left of the dial, this is worth checking out.

MUSTARD – “ON GOD” (ft. A$AP FERG, YG, TYGA, A$AP ROCKY)

Major rap producer Mustard’s new album Perfect 10 comes out next week (June 28), and its latest star-studded single is out today.

RICK ROSS – “ACT A FOOL” (ft. WALE)

Rick Ross is prepping his new project Port of Miami 2, and new single “Act A Fool” has him sounding as triumphant as ever.

GUCCI MANE – “PROUD OF YOU” (PROD. KENNY BEATS)

Gucci Mane’s new project Delusions of Grandeur dropped today, and its newest single is “Proud Of You,” which was produced by Kenny Beats, who’s on a roll right now (thanks to work with Rico Nasty, Vince Staples, and more). Kenny provides Gucci with a typically great backdrop, and Gucci navigates it like a pro.

CALEB GILES – “QUICKSAND” (ft. PINK SIIFU)

Bronx artist Caleb Giles plays saxophone in Standing on the Corner, and he’s also a rapper with a new project called Under The Shade coming soon. His new single “Quicksand” features likeminded underground rapper Pink Siifu, and it’s a very promising first taste of the new project.

E-40 – “CHASE THE MONEY” (ft. QUAVO, RODDY RICCH, A$AP FERG, SCHOOLBOY Q)

The unmistakable E-40 will release his new album Practice Makes Paper on July 26 via Heavy On The Grind, and new single “Chase The Money” features a star-studded cast of guests.

EAST FOREST – “ELECTRONIC SEA” (ft. STIC of DEAD PREZ)

Chapter 3 of the East Forest x Ram Dass project comes out this week, and it includes this song featuring Stic of alt-rap duo Dead Prez. You can read more about it here.

THE GAME – “WEST SIDE”

Has it really taken The Game 15 years to name a song “West Side”? Guess so! Anyway, it’s the first single off Born 2 Rap, which he says will be his final album. It’s a little rougher around the edges than his most classic material, but stays true to the kind of aggressive West Coast rap you’d expect from The Game.

YK OSIRIS – “FREAKY DANCER” (ft. DABABY)

YK Osiris and DaBaby were both just named members of XXL’s 2019 Freshman Class, and now they’ve got a song together. YK Osiris offers up auto-tuned singsongy trap and then DaBaby comes in with one of his trademark wild-eyed verses.

LIL BABY – “OUT THE MUD” (ft. FUTURE)

Fast-rising Atlanta trap rapper/singer Lil Baby teams with long-running Atlanta trap rapper/singer Future for this new one that sounds like you probably expect it to.
