The 88th annual Academy Awards happened Sunday night in Los Angeles, with drama Spotlight winning Best Picture, a slight upset over The Revenant (whose Alejandro González Iñárritu won Best Director and star Leonardo DiCaprio won Best Actor).

On the musical front: Sam Smith and Jimmy Napes won Best Song for “Writing’s on the Wall” and, in a moving speech, dedicated the award to the LGBT community; Ennio Morricone picked up his first-ever Best Original Score win for The Hateful Eight; and Amy Winehouse portrait Amy won Best Documentary Feature.

Lady Gaga performed the nominated “Till It Happens to You,” from the campus sexual assault documentary The Hunting Ground, and was joined by a large group of survivors (all with slogans scrawled on their arms) for what was arguably the most visually powerful moment of the night. Watch that hereThe Weeknd and Sam Smith also performed their nominated songs, but ANOHNI and Sumi Jo did not.

Mad Max: Fury Road won the Oscars — six, mostly for technical/art categories. Chris Rock hosted and used the opportunity to focus on the Oscars’ (and Hollywood’s) lack of diversity, walking out on stage to Public Enemy’s “Fight the Power” which was used during the telecasts closing credits as well.
