2018 Golden Globes winners: Aziz Ansari, 'Lady Bird,' 'Big Little Lies' & more

The 75th annual Golden Globes are underway in Los Angeles Sunday night (1/7). This year’s ceremony is in the shadow of the sexual misconduct allegations against Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey and others and women were dressed in black in solidarity with the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements, and many men were wearing wearing #TimesUp pins as well. “Good evening ladies and remaining gentlemen,” is how host Seth Meyers opened his monologue. “It’s 2018 and marijuana is finally legal and sexual harassment finally isn’t…for the male nominees in the room this will be the first time in three months it won’t be terrifying to hear your name read out loud.” He also called on Jessica Chastain, Billy Eichner, Issa Rae (Insecure), Hong Chau, and Amy Poehler to do “jokes Seth can’t tell.”

Big Little Lies won in every category it was nominated Best Limited Series, and Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern and Alexander Skarsgard won acting awards for it (Reese Witherspoon and Shailene Woodley were also nominated).

The Handmaids Tale (which won for Best Drama and Elizabeth Moss won Best Actress for her lead perfomance in it.

Lady Bird won Best Musical or Comedy and Saoirse Ronan won for her terrific lead performance in Lady Bird.

James Franco won for his portrayal of The Room’s Tommy Wiseau in The Disaster Artist, and he brought Tommy onstage for it.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri won Best Drama, plus awards for: Frances McDormand (Best Actress), Sam Rockwell (Best Supporting Actor) and Martin McDonah for Best Screenplay.

Guillermo Del Toro won Best Director for The Shape of Water,

Oprah Winfrey was given the Cecil B DeMille Award and she gave without a doubt the most powerful, memorable speech of the night.

Aziz Ansari won Best Actor in a Comedy for Season 2 of Master of None.

Amy Sherman Paladino‘s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel won both Best Comedy or Musical and Rachel Brosnahan won for Best Actress.

“This is Me” from The Greatest Showman won Best Song; Alexandre Desplat won Best Score for The Shape of Water.
