22 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so little time. Each week we review five new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, show recaps, track premieres, and more all day. That includes a lot of tour announcements, a list of tonight’s NYC shows, and NY shows that just went on sale. We publish a monthly playlist of some of our favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place…

SOULJA BOY – “IN MY POCKET” (ft. A$AP FERG & ASIAN DOLL)

Soulja Boy’s comeback year continues. After appearing at A$AP Mob’s Yams Day, he dropped a new song featuring A$AP Mob member A$AP Ferg, as well as the rising Asian Doll, and the three of them sound pretty great together. Long live Soulja Boy.

APPARAT – “DAWAN”

Berlin’s Apparat will release LP5 on March 22 via Mute, and the lead single is the gorgeously glitchy electronic pop of “Dawan.”

AMERICAN FOOTBALL – “UNCOMFORTABLY NUMB” (ft. HAYLEY WILLIAMS)

American Football have shared the song off their upcoming third album which features Paramore’s Hayley Williams, and it’s one of the catchiest songs in the band’s storied discography. We wrote more about the song (and its star-filled video) here.

TY SEGALL  –  “JUST GIVE UP” & “LOVE FUZZ” (LIVE)

Ty Segall released five albums in 2018 — can he top that this year? He’s already on his way, releasing live album Deforming Lobes in March which you can read more about (and all the other stuff he’s got on his plate) here. He’s also got a brand new song in this week’s episode of Corporate (read our interview with the show’s creators).

Low Dose are fronted by Legendary Divorce’s Itarya Rosenberg and their lineup includes all three members of the now-defunct Fight Amp. They’re releasing their self-titled debut album on March 29 via Brutal Panda/Knife Hits, and new single “Right On” is part riot grrrl, part sludge metal, and all awesome.

DEAD WITCHES – “LAY, DEMON”

Dead Witches are fronted by Psychedelic Witchcraft’s Virginia Monti and they also feature original Electric Wizard drummer Mark Greening (who rejoined that band in 2012 but left again in 2014). Their music’s cut from a similar cloth as both of those bands; it’s fuzzed-out, Sabbathian stoner doom with Virginia’s soaring voice leading the way. Get a taste via “Lay, Demon” from upcoming album The Final Exorcism, due February 22 via Heavy Psych Sounds.

DELICATE STEVE – “SELFIE OF A MAN”

Steve Marion is back with a new Delicate Steve album, Till I Burn Up, which is out March 1 via ANTI- and inspired by Dr. John’s 1968 LP, Gris Gris. “There is a confidence that comes with abandoning the idea of wanting to create something that everyone might like to check out,” says Steve. That said, check out the first single, the instrumental “Selfie of a Man.”

CALICOCO – “ANCHOR PARK”
