7 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so little time. Each week we review five new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, show recaps, track premieres, and more all day. That includes a lot of tour announcements, a list of tonight’s NYC shows, and NY shows that just went on sale. We publish a monthly playlist of some of our favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place…

DEADLAND RITUAL (mem BLACK SABBATH, GUNS N’ ROSES, BILLY IDOL’S BAND) – “DOWN IN FLAMES”

Black Sabbath may be no more, but bassist Geezer Butler is staying active. He’s got a new band called Deadland Ritual with Use Your Illusion-era Guns N’ Roses drummer Matt Sorum, longtime Billy Idol guitarist Steve Stevens, and singer Franky Perez (of Apocalyptica and Scars on Broadway). As you’d probably expect, this is not exactly the most appealing Geezer Butler project, but if you’re curious, listen below.

SARAH SHOOK & THE DISARMERS – “THE WAY SHE LOOKED AT YOU” & “DEVIL MAY CARE”

Sarah Shook & The Disarmers, who released Years earlier this year (Laura Jane Grace of Against Me! is a big fan), have a new 7″ single featuring two brand new country songs — lonesome ballad “The Way She Looked at You” and the more rambunctious “Devil May Care.” The 7″ is out now via Bloodshot and you can stream the two songs exclusively at Apple Music.

LAMBCHOP – “THE DECEMBER-ISH YOU”

Kurt Wagner will be back in 2019 with a new Lambchop album, titled This (is what I wanted to tell you) and out March 22. As you can tell, he’s still in autotune mode on “The December-ish You” which is quite a lovely song.

WINTERSLEEP – “SURRENDER”

Canadian band Wintersleep announced their seventh album, In the Land Of, due out March 29, 2019 via Dine Alone Records, and shared its first single, the tuneful, driving, and earnestly sung “Surrender.”

WORRIERS – “GRAND CANYON” (THE MAGNETIC FIELDS COVER)

Worriers did a stripped-down cover of “Grand Canyon” for the new Magnetic Fields tribute album that comes out this Friday, and we wrote more about it here.

PALEHOUND – “I CAN’T TOUCH YOU ANYMORE” (THE MAGNETIC FIELDS COVER)

From that same Magnetic Fields tribute album comes Palehound’s faithful take on “I Can’t Touch You Anymore.”
