DARKTHRONE – OLD STAR (ALBUM STREAM)

Norway’s Darkthrone made some of the most influential black metal albums of the ’90s and, though guitarist Zephyrous left in ’93, the remaining core duo of vocalist/guitarist Nocturno Culto and drummer Fenriz have stayed intact for all these years and they’ve continued to make quality music. PINKISH BLACK – “CONCEPT UNIFICATION”

Pinkish Black are releasing their fourth album, Concept Unification, on June 14 via Relapse Records, and they’ve shared the heavy, gothy title track, which a striking synth line definitely doesn’t add levity to.

SUMAC & KEIJI HAINO – “NOW I’VE GONE AND DONE IT I SPILLED HOLY WATER (JUST WATER) OVER THAT THING CALLED HEALING MUSIC……………………………. / THERE WAS A FAINT “TSK”NOISE”

Sumac, the project of former Isis frontman Aaron Turner, bassist Brian Cook (Russian Circles, Botch), and drummer Nick Yacyshyn (Baptists), collaborated with Japanese experimental musician for Keiji Haino for 2018’s American Dollar Bill – Keep Facing Sideways, You’re Too Hideous To Look at Face on, and now they have a new joint project, Even for just the briefest moment / Keep charging this “expiation” / Plug in to making it slightly better, due out June 28 via Trost. The first single is the 15-minute “Now I’ve gone and done it I spilled holy water (just water) over that thing called healing music……………………………. / There was a faint “Tsk”noise”

KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD – “SELF-IMMOLATE”

You may recall Australia’s King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard released “Plan B” which found them heading in a decidedly metal direction. If you dug that here’s more where that came from: “Self-Immolate” is another heavy shredder with an equally incendiary video.

FRIENDSHIP – “DEMISE,” “VERTIGO,” “FIEND”

Japan’s FRIENDSHIP announced their second album, Undercurrent, due out June 14 via Southern Lord, and shared the first three unrelentingly heavy singles.

ABUSE OF POWER – “WHAT ON EARTH CAN WE DO”

Atlanta hardcore outfit Abuse of Power are releasing their debut LP What On Earth Can We Do on June 14 via Triple B Records, and ahead of that they’ve shared the album’s title track.

FUMING MOUTH – “OUT OF THE SHADOWS”

Boston hardcore crew Fuming Mouth shared new single “Out of the Shadows” ahead of their upcoming debut album on Triple B Records, The Grand Descent.

TRAIL OF LIES – “FEARLESS,” “STRONG WILLED”

Syracuse, NY’s Trail of Lies follow their 2018 album W.A.R. with this new 7″, via Triple B Records.
