'90s band Transona Five's out-of print catalog finds rebirth in new double LP compilation (listen)

Transona Five were part of Denton, TX’s fertile spacerock scene that also gave us Comet, Lift to Experience and The Tomorrow People. The band, named after a Stereolab song, were on the more gentle side, somewhere between Galaxie 500 and American Analog Set. The band released a few EPs and one full-length, 1998’s Duffel Bag LP, before ceasing operations in the early ’00s, and all of those records have been out of print for over 15 years. Sonic Surgery Records will change that this week with a new 19-song double-LP compilation featuring the best of their ’90s releases and a few unreleased tracks, all remastered and sounding better than ever. The compilation is out this Friday (2/17) but you can stream the whole thing right now. Listen below.

The vinyl edition of the Transona Five compilation is limited to 300 copies (it’s also available on CD). Preorder yours now.
