A Sunny Day in Glasgow’s Jen Goma readies solo debut (listen), on tour now w/ Teeny from TEEN

You may know Jen Goma as singer for A Sunny Day in Glasgow, or from People Get Ready, or Roman à Clef, or maybe even The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. She’s now shining the spotlight a little more directly on herself with Showtime Goma, Jen’s new solo project that takes a decidedly more pop approach. Mind you, her style of pop is still a little off kilter. Her debut album, Smiley Face, was made with Deerhoof’s Greg Saunier and it posits her powerful pipes at the center the songs while arrangements spiral off at odd angles. You can check out the infectious first single “Big Disaster” below.

Goma Showtime is currently on tour with Nancy Feast (aka Teeny Lieberson of TEEN) where they’ll both play during each other’s sets for a “special, live only, solo collaboration.” The tour wraps up with two shows in the NYC area: Hudson, NY’s Half Moon on April 13 with Jennifer Vanilla and a NOW benefit at Annie Bielski, and then Ridgewood’s Trans-Pecos on April 14 with Jennifer Vanilla and Sarah Kinlaw (tickets).

All tour dates are listed below.
