Abbath cuts reportedly drunken show short, cancels remainder of tour due to “health issues”

Abbath are in the middle of a South American tour, which stopped in Buenos Aires’ Club Palmero on Wednesday night (11/13). As El Culto reports, the night got off to a bad start when doors were delayed by two hours, severely reducing the set lengths of openers Descarnado and Medium, and things didn’t improve with Abbath took the stage. Guitarist Ole André Farstad wasn’t with them (and rumor has it he and Abbath got into a fight earlier that day), and after trying to begin “Count the Dead” three times, the former Immortal frontman, who was reportedly drunk, “threw the guitar to the ground” and “threw himself on the crowd.” According to Cuartel Del Metal, they next tried to play “Tyrants” until Abbath left the stage. You can watch this go down in the fan-taken video clips below.

In a statement today, the band has cancelled the rest of the tour, including tonight’s scheduled performance at Patagonia Metal Fest, citing “health issues”:

It is with heavy heart that we have to announce the cancellation of the remainder of the Abbath South American Outstrider tour. Due to health issues that need to be treated, we are unable to complete the last shows in Argentina and Brazil. We deeply apologize to all of our fans that wanted to come and see us, to the local promoters, and to Matrix Entertainment who has worked tirelessly in order to make this tour happen. We hope we can make it up to all you some day. We are very sorry.

No word as of yet on whether Abbath’s slot on the 2020 Decibel Metal Tour with Mayhem will be affected.

. Videos: @coco_fonrouge Foto: Matías Gallardo. . . . . #abbath
