Actress to open all November shows for Animal Collective (who paid tribute to Other Music)
Animal Collective have been extensively touring behind their most recent record Painting With offering opening slots in their shows to experimental electronic artists Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, WIFE (who opens a number of fall dates), and GFOTY.
Continuing the streak, AnCo has announced British electronic musician Actress will be opening for all of their November shows. The dates kick off at NYC’s Terminal 5 on November 2. Tickets are on still available. All dates is listed below.
Additionally, Animal Collective have their two-day camping festival, A N I M A L C O L L E C T I V E Camping Weekend, coming up on September 23 & 24 at the Fernwood Resort in Big Sur, California. Co-presented by (((folkYEAH!))), it features AnCo sets both nights, plus performances by WIFE, Winter, The Range of Light Wilderness, M. Geddes Gengras and Jessica Pratt. Tickets are sold out.
In somewhat related news, famed New York record store Other Music closed at the end of last month. AnCo said farewell with a post on Facebook that claimed Other Music was “the first store to sell AC albums in the entire world.” The band credits the institution with feeding their appetite for the experimental.
