The 2016 edition of Afropunk Festival happened over the weekend at Brooklyn’s Commodore Barry Park, bringing an excitingly diverse group of performers over two days. Day 1 (Saturday, August 27) ranged from hip hop (Tyler the Creator, Shabazz Palaces), to jazz (Thundercat), to punk (Trash Talk, Downtown Boys, HO99O9), and iconoclasts like TV on the Radio, Flying Lotus and George Clinton. BV photographer spent most of Saturday capturing the crowd, taking pictures of those there to catch the artists and enjoy the day, but she also shot a few bands (Shabazz, HO99O9, Trash Talk, and Downtown Boys). Check out her pictures from Saturday in the gallery above and stay tuned for more Afropunk coverage to come.
