Afropunk 2019 Saturday pics & video (Tierra Whack, Rico Nasty, special guests, fashion, more)

The 2019 edition of Afropunk Brooklyn kicked off on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon (8/24) in Brooklyn’s Commodore Barry Park. In addition to its stacked and eclectic musical lineup, which on its first day included sets from Jill Scott, GoldLink, Leon Bridges, J.I.D., Gary Clark Jr., Tierra Whack, Leikeli47, Ravyn Lenae, Rico Nasty, Kari Faux, Junglepussy, Kelsey Lu, Upchuck, Hello Yello, Batekoo, IAMDDB, and more, the festival renowned as a hotbed of self-expression via wild personal fashion.

Saturday at Afropunk included a few guest appearances, too; Alicia Keys came out during Tierra Whack’s set, and Rapsody, who just released her great new album Eve, joined Leikeli47 for a song off that album that she features on, “Oprah.” Watch fan-taken video clips of both of those performances below, and check out pictures from the whole day in the gallery above. Stay tuned for more, including a gallery focusing on the people attending the festival.

UPDATE: Pictures from Sunday at Afropunk HERE, and the people of Afropunk 2019 HERE.
