Aimee Mann, J. Mascis, Lee Fields, Jade Bird & more playing A2IM Indie Week 2018

The 2018 edition of A2IM Indie Week, which is an “international conference and networking event aimed at maximizing the global impact of Independent music,” takes place June 18-21 at Clemente Soto Velez Cultural and Educational Center in NYC. It’s mostly an industry conference, with daily panels like “Licensing & Publishing 101: The Nuts and Bolts,” “Finding Success in a Crowded Vinyl Marketplace,” and “Music Post-Net Neutrality,” but there are some shows associated with it too. The biggest is the 2018 edition of the annual A2IM Libera Awards which happens June 21 at Playstation Theater with Aimee Mann, The Dap Kings with Lee Fields and more paying tribute to the late Sharon Jones and Charles Bradley, plus Sam Outlaw, Funky  4 + 1 and Raul Midon. Tickets, which include $100 open bar and $65 cash bar options, are on sale now.

The M for Montreal showcase at Pianos on June 19 with Le Couleur,  Paupière, Lost Cousins, Basement Revolver, Nina June, and Sean Christopher (7 – 11 PM).

The Reeperbahn Festival Showcase on June 20 at Pianos with Akua Naru, Surma, Jade Bird, Jeannel and Haerts (7-11 PM).

The ADA 25 Year Anniversary showcase at Bowery Ballroom on June 20 with J Mascis, Ron Gallo, Teenage Wrist, Michael Blume, plus the “DJ Spooky Presents Phantom Dancehall After Party with The Interrupters,” and more guest performers. Tickets for Bowery go on sale Friday, June 8 at noon and first 50 people through the door the night of the show get a Vinyl Me Please gift bag.
