Alan Cumming to open East Village club called Club Cumming
Actor, stage star — and no stranger to nightlife — Alan Cumming (The Good Wife, Spy Kids, X-Men, Emma, Broadway’s Cabaret, etc) will open his own club in the East Village, and it is called Club Cumming. Page Six reports that it will open in what is now the East 6th St gay bar Easternbloc Bar. Cumming is teaming with Easternbloc owners Benjamin Maisani and Darren Dryden, and gay nightlife promoter Daniel Nardicio for the new club.
Easternbloc will close in August for renovations, and the revamped bar is set to re-open in September.
A rep for Alan Cumming told Page Six that the new club “will be a mixture of performance, DJs [and] theme nights and as eclectic and unexpected as Alan himself.” The rep continues, “Alan wants it to be a home for everyone of all ages, all genders, all sexualities, who all enjoy letting go and making some mischief. No judgments, no attitude, no rules, except kindness, acceptance and fun.”
