Alice Glass: "I won in court today" against Ethan Kath

Alice Glass announced on Twitter that the defamation lawsuit Ethan Kath filed against her has been dismissed. “I won in court today,” she writes. “The defamation lawsuit against me was dismissed ! Thank you so much for the love and support throughout this ugly process. This is a victory for survivors of abuse and sexual misconduct in countries where abusers use the court system to further victimize and keep people silent. WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED.”

UPDATE: Pitchfork confirmed with the Los Angeles Superior Court that Alice’s motion to strike was granted. They write:

In an email to Pitchfork, Glass’ lawyer wrote, “Yes, we are extremely pleased with the Court’s decision to grant our motion to strike, which effectively dismisses the complaint in its entirety. As the prevailing, party, we are entitled to attorneys fees and will return to court to obtain an order in that regard.”

Kath, Alice’s former Crystal Castles bandmate, claimed her allegations of physical and sexual abuse against him caused the cancellation of Crystal Castle’s tour and the loss of $300k in profits. Kath has reportedly been under investigation by the Sex Crimes unit of the Toronto Police. He denies the allegations, calling them “pure fiction” and saying he “can’t support extortion, false claims, and accusations put forth after the band gained success without her.”

In Alice’s original statement, she says, “over a period of many months, he gave me drugs and alcohol and had sex with me in an abandoned room at an apartment he managed. It wasn’t always consensual and he remained sober whenever we were together.”
