“Bagayoko met Mariam Doumbia in the mid-’70s at the Institute for the Young Blind in Bamako, the capital of Mali. Their connection, both romantic and musical, was immediate. “She sang, and taught students to sing and dance,” Bagayoko said. “I had played (guitar) in many orchestras in Mali, including (Salif Keita’s) Ambassadeurs du Motel.”” [Montreal Gazette]
