ambient icon Harold Budd playing two NYC shows in July

Composer, ambient icon and Eno / Cocteau Twins collaborator Harold Budd will play two shows in NYC this summer which mark, according the organizers, only the second time he’s performed in the city in the last 20 years. The shows happen July 12 & 13 at St. George’s Episcopal Church. Called “The Candlelight Concerts,” the two shows will feature a full retrospective of Budd’s compositions, from “the earliest written in the late 1960’s to works written as recently as summer 2018.”

On the 7/12 show he’ll be joined by Ethos Percussion Group, with members of So Percussion and Bang on a Can All-Stars, while JAB (John Also Bennett) will perform an opening set. For the 7/13 show Budd will be joined by ACME Ensemble and members of So PercussionTickets are on sale.

Harold Budd’s last NYC show was at The Kitchen in 2015 and he played this year’s Big Ears Festival in Nashville back in March. Listen to a few of Budd’s more famous works, below.
