American Football have been playing shows in support of American Football (LP2), one of the best albums of last year and the long-awaited followup to the band’s highly influential 1999 debut. We recently caught them in NYC (pics) with frontman Mike Kinsella’s brother/collaborator Tim’s band Joan of Arc, and we caught them again in London on Saturday (2/11). They played the O2 Shepherd’s Bush, and pictures of the show are in the gallery above.

American Football have more tour dates coming up, including US festival Sasquatch! and the just-announced Netherlands festival Best Kept Secret (with Arcade Fire, Radiohead, and more). Updated dates are listed below.

Speaking of Joan of Arc, Noisey recently released a documentary on them called Your War (I’m One Of You): 20 Years Of Joan Of Arc. Here’s an excerpt of the description:

Here we examine how Joan of Arc, and music in general, was a salvation for Kinsella, following a childhood punctuated by bullying and abuse. We speak extensively with his family and friends, not to mention members of the band both past and present, mapping Kinsella’s road from Cap’n Jazz through to Joan of Arc’s origins. With a new sound largely divorced from Cap’n Jazz’s legacy, the documentary explores how the desire to create art fueled the band’s ongoing twenty-year run, even in the face of visceral reaction from critics. The film chronicles the band’s ups-and-downs and constant reinvention that continues to this day.
