Craig Finn, Amy Helm, Barr Brothers, Courtney Marie Andrews & more paid tribute to women songwriters at MHOW (pics, videos, setlist)

The Americana Music Association threw a benefit show at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg on Wednesday (5/9), where tons of talented artists paid tribute to “pioneering women of country, blues, and folk.” The host for the night was Lola Kirke, and the show featured Amy Helm (playing Sister Rosetta Tharpe’s “Didn’t It Rain”), Cassandra Jenkins (playing Nancy Sinatra’s “Bang Bang”), The Barr Brothers (playing The Staple Singers’ “I’m Coming Home”), Nicki Bluhm (playing Dusty Springfield’s “Son of a Preacher Man”), Courtney Marie Andrews (playing Emmylou Harris’ “Bluebird Wine” and Bonnie Raitt’s “Love Has No Pride), Craig Finn (playing Patti Smith’s “Peaceable Kingdom”), and much more, and the show ended with everyone on stage for Carole King’s “I Feel the Earth Move.”

The lineup was supposed to include Jade Bird but she dropped off. Others who played were Leslie Mendelson, Alecia Chakour, Elvis Perkins, Vera Sola, Alana Amram, Kanene Pipkin, Kam Franklin, Elizabeth & the Catapult, Domino Kirke and Deva Mahal. Pictures are in the gallery above. Full setlist and a few videos below.
