Anderson .Paak, Desiigner & more are 2016 XXL Freshmen; NYC & LA shows announced

2016 XXL Freshmen

Like they do every year, XXL Magazine has picked the ten rappers they think are about the become stars, aka the 2016 Freshman Class. It’s got Anderson .Paak, who I think we can all agree is one of the year’s biggest breakouts in any genre. It’s also got Desiigner, who you know from his Kanye co-sign and his #1 hit “Panda.” There’s also the Chance the Rapper-approved Lil Yachty, G Herbo, Denzel Curry, Dave East, Lil Uzi Vert, and Lil Uzi Vert’s current tourmates Kodak Black and 21 Savage.

As always, there will be live shows from the Freshman Class. There’s one in NYC at Playstation Theater on June 28 (the same day the Freshmen issue of XXL comes out). There’s also a TBA LA show on July 25 and more TBA. Tickets are on sale now for the NYC show, which has Desiigner, Lil Dicky, Lil Yachty, Dave East, and Denzel Curry billed.

Lil Uzi Vert’s tour hits NYC on June 29 at Irving Plaza with 21 Savage opening (they play Philly the night of the Freshman Class show in NYC).

Denzel Curry plays a free House of Vans show in Brooklyn this Thursday (6/16) with Rae Sremmurd and Kamaiyah (RSVP is closed).

Anderson .Paak plays Disclosure’s Wild Life fest in Queens this Saturday (6/18) with Mobb Deep, and NYC’s Panorama festival in July.

Lil Yachty and Dave East both play Fool’s Gold Day Off in Brooklyn on August 20.
