Andrew Bird & Esperanza Spalding @ Prospect Park (pics, setlist, video)

Andrew Bird playing a free show in Prospect Park on Friday night? That is a very Brooklyn way to start your weekend, and lots of folks did just that on July 30 as part of the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! festival. The crowd was treated to a nearly 20 song set, including favorites like “Pulaski at Night,” “A Nervous Tic Motion of the Head to the Left” “Fake Palindromes” and more. For the encore, opener Esperanza Spalding joined Bird for a cover of Duke Ellington’s “Caravan” and you can watch video of that and a few other songs from the show, below. Pictures from the night are in the gallery above.

Spalding, who is also teaching at Harvard this summer, will be making a new album over the course of 77 hours, all of which will stream live on Facebook starting September 12.
