Ani Cordero is a woman of many projects. She’s currently a touring member of Os Mutantes, has played in Pistolera, and is of the long-running Bloodshot Records-signed NYC band Cordero. She’s preparing to release a new solo album, Recordar: Latin American Songs of Love & Protest, on April 29 which revisits “songs from the 1930s-1970s that highlight influential artists who provided the soundtrack for social change.” The record was co-produced by Os Mutantes member Sergio Dias, and features contributions from Charles Giordano (E Street Band), Kelly Pratt (David Byrne’s band, Arcade Fire, Beirut), Omar Akil Little (Lee “Scratch” Perry collaborator), Erich Hubner (Man or Astroman?), and more.

You can get a taste of the album from its single “Volver a Los 17.” The new video for that song, directed by E. Lee Smith, premieres in this post. Check it out below.

Ani also has a couple dates coming up, including a record release show in her hometown happening on May 1 at Joe’s Pub. Tickets for that show are on sale now. She plays a Philly show soon after. All dates are listed, with the new video, below.
