Annie Hart of Au Revoir Simone has been quietly releasing music on her own via her SoundCloud page over the last year or so. While not terribly different than the synthpop that ARS make and still with a strong ear for melody, her solo songs have their own idiosyncrasies and her latest, “Hard to Be Still,” is probably the closest she’s ever come to “rock.” Check out three songs below.

You can catch Annie Hart and her solo band live in NYC a couple times over the next month or so. She plays Mercury Lounge on Friday (1/8) with Air Waves, Grooms and Drawing Boards, the latter being the new band from Annie’s husband (and onetime Dirty On Purpose member) Doug Marvin and Sisters guitarist Aaron Pfannebecker (tickets). Annie is also playing Alphaville on February 5 with Beverly (who’ll have a new LP soon), Wall, and MPHO (tickets).
