A dress code was sent out to fans who got tickets for Arcade Fire‘s intimate show at Brooklyn’s Grand Prospect Hall this Thursday (7/27) saying that the audience should look “HIP & TRENDY,” no shorts, large logos, flip flops, tank tops, crop tops, baseball hats, or solid white or red clothing allowed, and they “reserve the right to deny entry to anyone dressed inappropriately.”

Arcade Fire have since tweeted that there is no such dress code. “If dress code is ‘hip and trendy,’ band members will not be allowed through the door…hip and trendy people will have to play the music. Band announces, ‘Wear whatever you want to any show.’ This has been an actual band announcement,” they say.

The email with the dress code also said cell phones, smart watches, and other recording devices will have to be checked into a Yondr pouch upon entry. Win Butler tweeted from his DJ Windows 98 account that Arcade Fire has nothing to do with taking phones either, and said it “must be an Apple thing” (the show is streaming live on Apple Music).

The band’s new album Everything Now comes out the day after the Brooklyn show (read a review), and their proper tour includes a much larger NYC show at MSG in September.
