Arcade Fire will headline the Kanaval Ball in New Orleans’ Mahalia Jackson Theater on February 14, which is during the city’s Carnival season leading up to Mardi Gras. Also on the bill: Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Haitian DJ Michael Brun, Trinidadian DJ Jillionaire, Haitian collective Lakou Mizik, and Pierre Kwenders. Tickets go on sale Friday, December 20 at 10 AM Central.

You may recall this year Win and Regine of Arcade Fire formed Krewe du Kanaval with Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and were the first new krewe to join Mardi Gras in five years. They released a single, ““Iko Kreyòl” (featuring Lakou Mizik x 79rs Gang and more), and threw a similar event at Mardi Gras 2019 with Kwenders and more.

The 2020 Ball kicks off “a weekend of krewe festivities celebrating Haitian culture and its many contributions to the city of New Orleans and pays homage to the longstanding relationship between the two cultures, which dates back for more than 200 years.” Learn more on the weekend’s activities here.
