Fred Schneider of the B52’s to host “Cats & the City”

New York, N.Y. - Fred Schneider, lead singer of the B52’s, will host the “Cats & the City” Art Exhibit on Mon., Nov. 1st, 7-10 p.m, at the historic National Arts Club on Gramercy Park South which will benefit Neighborhood Cats and the Humane Society of New York. The multi-media exhibit will feature artwork by painters Peter Max and Martha Szabo, photographers Valerie Shaff and Kim Levin and cartoonists Patrick McDonnell (“Mutts”) and Dan Piraro (“Bizarro”). The Silent Auction will include cat dishes hand-painted by Fred Schneider, actress Hallie Kate Eisenberg, Dan Piraro and other celebrities.

At 8 p.m. the “Feral Friends” Awards Ceremony will honor those individuals and organizations who have made a difference for NY City felines: Feral Friends Honorees: Founder of the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals Jane Hoffman, “Animal Mukti Free Spay/Neuter Clinic” Founders Sharon Gannon, David Life & Jivamukti Yoga Center, HSNY Veterinarian Dr. Elizabeth Higgins, DVM and Humane Achievement Honorees: Animal Activist Mary Max, Cat Therapist
Carole Wilbourn, NY Correction Department Commissioner Martin Horn and volunteers Joseph Pastore and Carol Zelman.

Other highlights of the evening include both Silent and Live Auctions, Vegan Hors d’ Oeuvres and an Open Wine/Beer Bar.
