Nancy Sinatra to Play Joe's Pub
Nancy Sinatra is playing Joe's Pub in NYC, on December 1st, 2004 (7 & 9:30). Tickets are $30, and on sale at Telecharge.
Nancy, who recently performed at Little Steven's Garage Festival, is making a comeback. "This heavily styled songstress scored major mid-'60s success with hit movies like Elvis's Speedway and hit songs like "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'," "Sugar Town," and the smooth "Somethin' Stupid" with dad Frank." Her new, self-titled, album was released on September 28, 2004.
"A better album title would have been 'Nancy Sinatra & Friends,' as the 64-year-old singer collaborates with fans such as Morrissey, Pulp's Jarvis Cocker and Richard Hawley, Sonic Youth's Jim O'Rourke and Thurston Moore, Jon Spencer, Pete Yorn and U2."
Records like Nancy Sinatra, which take a pop icon, surround her with current admirers for collaborators, and hope for a sound both modern and classic, are quite often disasters and almost never live up to even the most grudging of high hopes. Well, thanks to this (and Loretta Lynn's Van Lear Rose), you can toss that theory out the window, because Nancy Sinatra is a resounding success.

there are variations on this including adding some carnation milk (my mam) or using horror of horrors margarine. but I like it this way.
