Clap Your Hands and Say Tegan and Sara

Tegan and Sara

Last night was one of those nights where I stayed in and did nothing, even though I was itching to hit at least one of two good shows happening in Manhattan.

The first was Tegan and Sara with Kimya Dawson at Bowery Ballroom. Kimya on the bill made it that much more worth checking out. Ends up it sold out, I didn’t have a ticket, and my potential also-ticketless companion bailed. Aeki Tuesday was there, NuWanda was too.

Tegan & Sara out of the picture meant I could head over to Pianos to catch the show that I had so many reasons to want to see. First there was the Castanets, who by the way were interviewed by Pitchfork today. Then there was Piano’s latest resident, Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah, that everyone’s been talking about. And just to make the show that much more appealing, in what was a minor coincedence, I met the singer to the opening band, Pile of Face at LIT over the weekend when he handed me a flyer for this very show. Oh well. I Rock I Roll (who inspired this post title) reports it was quite the show with further review at Let the Good Times Roll (no mention of Castanets though).

Not even an option is what I didn’t know. Everyone with more connections than me was over at the SPIN offices checking out a private performance by Tegan and Sara earlier in the evening.
