Colin Meloy Stuff

A lot of people have asked me where to get the recording of the Colin Meloy solo show that I posted ten days ago. Well, you can actually get it in two places now: MP3 or FLAC.

In other Colin news...

He was supposed to finish the solo tour in Boston, but there was too much snow.

The Morrissey cover CD was reviewed by Pitchfork, and it's selling for ridiculous amounts on E-Bay.

More in the Monitor give an excellent IM review of the Saturday night show at Fez in NYC. I hadn't realized that the burning smell was someone's hair on fire. I especially didn't realize that the burning hair, "Grace Cathedral Pier" girl, and "I didn't stop" girl, WERE ALL THE SAME PERSON.

Colin announced at the show that he'd be back in NYC for two shows in the spring. One at Irving Plaza. One at Warsaw. Their days in small venues are finished (for now).

Colin also spoke of a Decemberists' DVD featuring an exclusive video and tour bus footage, and the double vinyl version of Picaresque, which will include a bunch of songs that didn't make the CD.

Every gig has an idiot (Bad Audience Member as Caryn calls them) , it seems.

Danny from Lungfish, when he was in Baltimore's Reptile House, used to bring a Burger King crown along and coronate the Gig Idiot at shows. Ususally, the idiot not even realizing he was being embarassed would wear the stupid crown the entire night. Sounds like this girl with the burning hair was your Gig Idiot that night.

Not sure if it's just me, but most of the MP3s cut out about halfway through ... they just jump to the next song as if the song was over ...
