Fez Closing?

It looks like the NYC club, Fez, may not be long for this world. While at the Angela McCluskey concert last night, someone, who found out from a bartender, told me the club was closing within a few months. On my way out, I asked another employee for confirmation. They said there was a rumor floating around that the place is closing, getting renovated, and reopening as something new. They also said it’s probably not true. In fact, they were rather defensive about the whole thing, exclaiming, “We’re still here!”

On my way home, I sat and wondered if I had discovered a scoop that I ought to pass along to Tale of Two Cities or Curbed, or if perhaps I was the last one to know what might be common knowledge. Before I could decide, I browsed over to Productshop, only to discover, in what is the strangest coincidence, that his lead story today is none other than the closing of Fez.

Further investigation revealed a a thread on an indiepop message board that further confirms the possible closing.

Regardless, it’s still open for now, and I’ll see you there Saturday night for the Colin Meloy show.
