Voxtrot | Rothko Saturday

I have no idea who the "Secret Special Guest" is playing Rothko in NYC Saturday, January 8th, but this show is most likely worth checking out anyway for a band from Austin, Texas called Voxtrot.
Listen to Voxtrot
The Start of Something (Real Audio, just click it to stream)
Missing Pieces (MP3, right click, save as)
Raised by Wolves (MP3, right click, save as)
Whiskey and Water (Real Audio, just click it to stream)
to love is to rob (Real Audio, just click it to stream)
Voxtrot have been described as "Smiths, Belle & Sebastian, C86 and
a dash of New Order." I'd describe them as pretty freakin good.
Shenzou 5 & Aero Wave open the show that's presented by North Loop + Filter. More info on that here.
Visit Voxtrot's official site, and let's hope that the "secret special guest" is really that special.

Get there early for Shenzou 5. It's the newest project of one of the former leads from The Swirlies and really good.

It looks like Voxtrot's site went down, so the real audio doesn't work for now.

Here's my review, hidden in the comments.
I went to see Voxtrot. Caught 2 songs of the band before. Didn't really form an opinion on them.
Voxtrot played the three songs I like from the MP3s/Real Audio, and they sounded just like they did on record. That was fun. I had trouble getting into their other songs though. Not the most original band, which they must realize because they closed with a cover of the CURE. I thought it was a nice touch.
The place was packed. More Packed for Voxtrot than the "super secret headliner" who came on next, Soft (who played Sin-E the night before). Not so super after all.
The DJ downstairs was really good by the way.
Overall, worthwhile. Voxtrot = young, with much potential.
