Arts & Crafts | BSS, Stars, Apostle of Hustle & Feist

As previously reported, Arts & Crafts' recording artists (aka Broken Social Scene side projects), Stars & Apostle of Hustle are playing Mercury Lounge in NYC on March 8th (which I think really is sold out this time) (all tour dates below).

Although hardly known in the U.S.A., Stars was just nominated for a Juno award in Canada. Unfortunately for them, they're competing against the Arcade Fire for "alternative album of the year." The Arcade Fire winning should make it less uncomfortable for fellow Broken Social Scene family member, Leslie Feist, who's also up for the same award. Then again, maybe she will win it. Who knows? Feist is also up for "new artist of the year" and "video of the year." Canadians can watch the Juno awards on April 3rd, 2005.

Stars' obscurity in the U.S. will potentially change after March 8th when their album is released here. It's been out in Canada for a while. Will releasing it in the U.S. make a difference? Now everyone who already downloaded it can replace their Mp3s with a real copy without paying import prices. Maybe they'll get a spot on Conan.

You can listen to the Stars album at arts-crafts.ca/stars, although every time I go there my browser just freezes.

Arts & Crafts' website is horribly slow, trying to listen to any streaming material off of it is probably an exercise in futility.

BUT - the Stars album is excellent, and so is Feist's. And technically, Broken Social Scene is the side-project... The other bands (Metric, Stars, Feist, etc) are the day jobs.

true enough (on the side projects). thanks for pointing that out.

If I had to go back and re-do my Best of 2004, I would be tempted to bump that Stars album up from number 11 to number 1. It is unbelievably good. And, oddly, I never had a problem with the A&C site, hmm...

And my silent agreement goes something like "Because she was fucked up enough as a kid to decide to fuck on film for fortune and fame."

I switched the vibrator off and set it aside. My hips were starting to get sore, so Dangly picked me up & scooted me up the bed. I straightened my legs as he moved his to the outside.

so i figured the best thing to do is offer an inside look to the demon that drives this crazy train, and tell obnoxious anecdotes about my sister, since she's not here to stop me.

there are variations on this including adding some carnation milk (my mam) or using horror of horrors margarine. but I like it this way.
