Devendra Banhart @ Tonic, NYC | Pics
Devendra Banhart, joined by Tarantula, half of CocoRosie (Devendra's girlfriend?), Will (is my friend), and a few more characters who I unfortunately can't name, played Tonic in NYC Monday night (Feb. 21st, 2005) to help raise money for the ailing club.
It was a very laid back show with lots of improvising, and a bunch of covers. I hope Devendra's fame and looks aren't going to his head, because he covered a song by Charlie Manson. The highlight of the show was a cover of Antony's "Fistul of Love." Obviously I was very, very, very, very, very, very, very excited about that.

was yoko ono really present or was devendra just fucking around?

I really enjoyed the show but I seriously wanted to kill that flute player (is that Will?). Though jubilant and fun to watch, he was always off-key and I wondered if he could even play flute at all.
That said, seeing Devendra rock out with Tarantula was a treat

I didn't hear him say Yoko was present. At the beginning he asked if anyone had gone to the Yoko Ono/Sean Lennon show that was at Tonic two nights earlier.
At the end of the show he thanked someone in the audience for coming. I couldn't see, or hear, who it was though.

Will is the flute player.
That's ironic that you were upset at Will's playing, because before Will played, he was sitting on the front of the stage having a conniption fit. From his facial expressions, it seemed he wasn't happy with the guitar player that was accompanying Devendra. I'm pretty sure he was trying to make that completely clear to said guitar player as well.

At the end of the show he said about Yoko, "I know you didn't want me to say anything, but thank you Yoko Ono." That leads me to beleive that she was present. I didn't see her though.

The guitar player was Kevin Barker who goes by Currituck Co. He has a song Devendra's Golden Apples thing. He's an amazing guitarist, but I think since he didn't know Devendras songs and had to improvise, he was a little off. Still a treat to see him perform though, in my mind.

Yes they were dating. They broke up in around 2007.
and Biancas sisters name is Sierra not Siena. Did she actually tell you that herself? Cause I watched an interview where she said she doesnt have any preference.
