M.I.A. & Arcade Fire Concert Recap

The ARcade Fire @ Irving Plaza

Last week included three exciting shows. It started with back-to-back Arcade Fire, the second of which is now legendary around the world thanks to the appearance of David Byrne, who also blogged about it (via Stereogum).

They did a cover of Talking Heads song when I saw them at Bowery Ballroom (Naïve melody)…we communicated by Email afterwards, so asking me to join on that tune was sort of natural. I loved it. Their crowd was lovely and energized as was the band and the room felt like it was filled with genuine music lovers- the word of mouth and internet buzz has all been fairly natural. – David Byrne

The above photo is from that show. The rest of the photos, and audio of David Byrne singing with them is here.

My photos from the night before at Webster Hall are here. Lots more where those came from for a future post.

Next came M.I.A. While watching the show, I was thinking “Is she lip-syncing?” Then after the show, my friend asked “Was she lip-syncing?” I said “maybe, but there’s no way I’m putting that in print without proof.” Well, someone else did it for me. Check out Sepia Mutiny for the rest of the story.
