Tonic Update & Yo La Tengo

It looks like all the hard work & benefit shows paid off. Tonic posted this update:

"Great news: The landlord has repaired the sewer and the Mr. John's are no more!

Our adjusted goal is $80,000.00 which makes us 90% of the way there. Your support has truly been inspirational and we can't thank you enough. Thank you all!"

Check Ticketweb for upcoming shows at Tonic, including two by Yo La Tengo tonight (which both appear to now be sold out)

About two weeks ago I posted a story that mentioned a Yo La Tengo show at Lincoln Center. Thanks to a tip that just landed in my inbox, I can tell you that tickets are on sale for that show happening on May 18th. Lincoln Center describes the event....

"A live concert by Yo La Tengo, "the most dearly treasured New York rock band of the decade!" (New York Magazine) The Hoboken-based indie group performs an original score for oceanographer Jean Painlevés eight short films, collectively titled The Sounds of Science and featuring such quirky, humorous works as "The Love Life of the Octopus.""

While we're on the subject of Yo La Tengo, it's also worth mentioning that they did their annual WFMU request-a-thon broadcast last week.

Here's some Yo La Tengo MP3s

UPDATE: Pitchfork gave Yo La Tengo's new CD (retrospective) an 8.2
