If you didn't already know, it's Bloc Party at the Bowery week. According to a statement published on Music for Robots, there's now a chance the two shows may get postponed. The Philly show they were scheduled to play tonight has been moved to June in a new venue.

My 2 Cents: If they cancel the Bowery shows and reschedule them for Webster Hall (like they've done for The Arcade Fire and The Fiery Furnaces), I'm gonna.... I don't know what I'm gonna do, but I'll be pissed.

it looks like my brief April Fool's Joke on craigslist when I "cancelled" the Bloc Party shows wasn't so far-fetched. bummer.

They were supposed to tape Letterman before the bus ride to Philly today...I wonder if that's cancelled too?

I just called Mercury (1:51 pm) and they claim that as of now - the shows are still a go.

Hey Brooklyn Vegan, I'm down to get pissed and do something if they move the show to shit-stop Webster Hall too.

why do bands love webster hall all of the sudden? They should try attending some shows there once in a while.

i'm happy i caught them in boston last night before this whole postponing shows business went down

i don't really think it's the bands who like it there but the bowery presents folks who can make more money by having shows @ the bigger venue if they think they can sell it out.

boo on webster hall

nora, that's true of course, but to play devil's advocate it also means more people who didn't get their tickets to the sold out show in time have a chance to get into the larger venue...but agreed that shows at webster hall compared to BB suck ass.

The trend of bands like Bloc Party and Fiery Furnaces "upgrading" their shows to Webster Hall is soundly criticized in the latest post on Young Mod Soldiers. It is must reading for anyone who is fed up with this trend...

if you do say so yourself, huh, hugo? ha!

Hey Hugo, can you ask the author of Young Mod Soldiers when they moved Bloc Party to Webster Hall? This is something I'd expect to know, considering I have a ticket for tomorrow's show.

BTW, watching Letterman right now and it appears Bloc Party did tape earlier today. Hmmm.

On the "official" message board on BlocParty.com, someone who appears to be the band's manager swears the Letterman appearance was taped on Monday, not yesterday. I've never heard of bands pre-taping segments for Letterman, and have been to many tapings of the show--not once has a pre-recorded musical segament been "dropped in" to the show. Very strange.

Heh. Well, it appears they had a post-Letterman afterparty on Monday night, so that makes sense. Kinda.

And it seems like they set aside hell of a lot of time for the Hane Fonda interview.
