Everyone's been talking about Kelly Clarkson's song, Since You've Been Gone, and Ted Leo's cover of it. Pitchfork reviewed it. Even Kelly (the American Idol) herself is talking about it.

The conversation reached the Howard Stern show today. Howard, Robin and Artie must have been arguing about the song earlier in the show. An audience member called in to defend the song, and he informed them of the Ted Leo cover version. Howard asked who Ted Leo was. Arty (who's going to see the Eagles at MSG tonight) said something (possibly joking) like, "Ted Leo is great. He'll be playing the Garden soon." Long story short, the caller played the Ted Leo version into the phone (and over the radio). "The song is even more gay when a dude sings it," Howard said..."He sounds like Tiny Tim."

I have the Ted Leo version (which I like), but haven't heard the orginal yet (I don't think). Does someone know where I can download it?

The annual Coney Island Village Voice Siren Festival is happening on July 16th, 2005. Ted Leo played in 2003.

Tiny Tim RIP. Read an interview with him.

I'm a music snob. I love this song. Either version.

I like both versions, too, and am not a fan of either Ted or Kelly.

both versions are good, clarkson's is better. not a fan of hers otherwise.

thanks for the howard coverage!

you can hear the kelly version by watching the video on her website (bless her heart, she looks so awkward trying to approximate a rock star swagger on stage)...

i love this song.

personally, i dont like the original, but the ted leo version is great. the song definitly gets stuck in your head for days though. it's catchy, but oh well. i love howard, how can they not like Ted Leo? Especially artie being a jersey boy, ya know?

I actualy heard the Ted leo cover before the original, and like them both, but esp. like how Leo segues halfway through into a cover of Maps by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

I believe they play the Kelly Clarkson version on "the radio". Try somewhere around 100 on FM.

did anyone go to the Maxwells show?

Ted Leo put on an awesome performance, and the setlist was perfect. He started the show on a highpoint, with Me and Mia followed by Where have all the rude boy gone?. From there the band never let up.

That being said, the crowd couldn't of been more asleep. You would think otherwise considering its jersey, a tiny space, drinks couldn't be more cheap, and you could smoke! But no, worst crowd at a ted leo show that i've been to. Maybe because it was a monday, or it could of been the large under 21 contigent, but the crowd just wasnt too receptive. This was supposed to be the end of the tour-give it back to jersey- bash, but it just ended up being more subdued.

Still awesome set, and performance wise it was probably the best (of the many i've been to) ted leo show yet. It's just a shame the crowd sucked.

that's a shame; i was at the irving plaza show the day before and the majority of the audience was, like, 16. i was weirded out, but they turned out to be an amazing crowd-- enthusiastic, devoted, and incredibly friendly.

i love ted leo. so, so much.

I thought that the crowd at the Irving show sucked too, also very subdued. Well, except for that one guy that was going bonkers and hurled himself to the front of the stage. "Dude is pumped" :p

Very happy to see they are gonna be wrapping up the Seaport fest.

I switched the vibrator off and set it aside. My hips were starting to get sore, so Dangly picked me up & scooted me up the bed. I straightened my legs as he moved his to the outside.
