Ted Leo sounds like Tiny Tim, says Howard Stern

Everyone’s been talking about Kelly Clarkson’s song, , and Ted Leo’s cover of it. Pitchfork reviewed it. Even Kelly (the American Idol) herself is talking about it.

The conversation reached the Howard Stern show today. Howard, Robin and Artie must have been arguing about the song earlier in the show. An audience member called in to defend the song, and he informed them of the Ted Leo cover version. Howard asked who Ted Leo was. Arty (who’s going to see the Eagles at MSG tonight) said something (possibly joking) like, “Ted Leo is great. He’ll be playing the Garden soon.” Long story short, the caller played the Ted Leo version into the phone (and over the radio). “The song is even more gay when a dude sings it,” Howard said…”He sounds like Tiny Tim.”

I have the Ted Leo version (which I like), but haven’t heard the orginal yet (I don’t think). Does someone know where I can download it?

The annual Coney Island Village Voice Siren Festival is happening on July 16th, 2005. Ted Leo played in 2003.
