U2 performing | Good Morning America Concert Series
U2 will perform for free (most likely not in Bryant Park) (maybe not even) in NYC for Good Morning America on May 20th (7am or something like that). Unlike the rest of the Good Morning America shows, U2 will (probably) not be in Brryant Park (a larger location will be announced - possibly taped from a stop on their Vertigo tour). Three of the songs will air on TV that day, with two more airing the next day (3+2 = they'll play at least 5 songs).
The U2 show is the kick-off for the summer Good Morning America Concert Series. Here's the full schedule (of shows that are definitely happening in Bryant Park in NYC):
May 27 — Rascal Flatts
June 3 — Shakira
June 10 — Santana
June 17 — Ringo Starr
June 24 — Jesse McCartney
July 1 — Patti LaBelle
July 8 — Missy Elliott
July 15 — Kayne West
July 22 — Fantasia
July 29 — Clay Aiken
August 5 — Jessica Simpson
August 12 — Keith Urban
August 19 — Hilary Duff
August 26 — Avril Lavigne
* Final Concert Date and Talent —TBD
**Talent subject to change.

The U2 performance will actually be done in the town they're currently in on the Vertigo tour on that date - probably an open soundcheck at the arena - it won't be done in NY. I read this on Billboard.com a while back.

Actually, the U2 taping has to be in the NYC area. They are playing in NJ on the 18th and are schedule for NYC on the 21st.

I think it will be too. I hope (not that I'm getting to it if it's actually taped in the morning)

Here's what I read. Sounds like it may be NY after all given the tour's location that week!

reading comprehension ain't what it used to be...nothing indicates that the U2 bit will be taped the day of the show...it will be taped in advance...

I have heard that U2 (or at least Bono) will be at Irving on 5/19 for Joey Ramone's birthday bash. Considering the affect the Ramones had on U2's members, and that they played on the tribute album, I don't find it shocking that they would pay their respect to him. I think it is worth checking out considering my source is strong. Good luck!

...as long as Bono and Edge don't play that teary-eyed, slowdull version of "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend."
Only if they rock out Bonzo Goes to Bitburg or something fast...;-)
