I Sang Karaoke with Cory Branan | Lucero
(At least 2 years ago, maybe 3) About ten of us went to karaoke in one of those private karaoke rooms you can rent for someone's birthday. I hadn't heard of Cory Branan the singer until I asked my friend of a friend if he happened to sing for a living. It couldn't be possible that this guy was just really good at karaoke. He told me he did, and that he was in town to play Letterman and Mercury Lounge. After karaoke I told him I'd check out the show at "the Merc," but I never did.
(starstruck) I followed his career for a few weeks. Then I mostly forgot about it. Then I heard his name in a Lucero song. Ends up they're friends. I was a fan of Lucero's last album, though I didn't love them live when they opened for the Weakerthans @ Bowery Ballroom.
Lucero & Cory Branan play Bowery Ballroom in NYC on June 7th, 2005. All tour dates here.
Lucero's new album (Nobody's Darlings) comes out May 24th

I was at the show last night, and it was fucking ON! I taped the Cory Set, and it came out pretty clear. I'm going to try and put it on CD in the next week or so. If you're interested in a copy, drop me an e-mail.
