The Mountain Goats eat Vegetarian Paradise | The Sunset Tree
Today's am/pm newspaper had an interview with John Darnielle of the Mountain Goats. He said his favorite things about NYC are the restaurant Vegetarian Paradise #2 ("I seriously have dreams of going there, they are so amazing"), The Strand (bookstore), and the Lush store (for shampoo).
John, I also recommend Red Bamboo. It's right next store (same owners even...I think)
Largehearted Boy tells us what John likes to read.
The new Mountain Goats CD ("The Sunset Tree") was released on April 26th.
They/He plays Knitting Factory tonight, and Northsix in Brooklyn on Saturday.

Again unrelated BUT, Coldplay X & Y tour is coming to NYC on September 6th and 7th and the venue to hold this event you ask? MSG. Of course theres a kicker and here it is.. franz ferdinand is opening.

I concur on the Red Bamboo recommendation. I just ate there the other day, and it was amazing.
While I was there, the owner got his ear talked off by a customer at the booth behind me. The customer kept going on and on about how he knew Oprah and how he directed Wu-Tang videos and how he could get these people to do things for him at the drop of a hat. The BS-meter was off the charts. Poor owner.
