The Flaming Lips | The Fearless Freaks

The Fearless Freaks is a new movie about The Flaming Lips. It came out on DVD last week, and it's playing in a few theaters. From Amazon...

"Equal parts punk and psychedelia, the Flaming Lips emerged from Oklahoma City as one of the most bracing bands of the late 1980's. The Fearless Freaks documents their rise from Butthole Surfers-imitating noisemakers to grand poobahs of orchestral pop masterpieces. Filmmaker Bradley Beesely had the good fortune of living in the same neighborhood as lead Lip Wayne Coyne, who quickly enlisted his buddy to document his band's many concerts and assorted exploits." ....more

According to the movie's official website, it premiered at SXSW. And as detailed in Flavorpill (and thank you Gawker for reminding me to post this), you can see the movie at the Pioneer Theater on E. 3rd St. in NYC from tonight (May 25th, 2005) till Tuesday (May 31st, 2005).

The Village Voice has a review, and so do a lot of people who mostly like it.
