Luna Lounge also has The Ligers listed for 5/13/05 at 10:30. It was on the Luna Lounge e-mail that was sent out today. Weird. I read somewhere yesterday that The Ligers were really Stellastarr. Who are these Ligers and why are they playing two weeks in a row? Or are there two bands named The Ligers? -Friday May 13th

stellastarr would make sense, as they played previous ny2lon gigs. however, coldplay being in town for this period, as well as their need for buzz shows has some friends of mine thinking...

So The Ligers might be Stellastar* and The Freakin Ligers might be Coldplay??? hmmm...

because Coldplay at Luna Lounge would be madness...

Well if the Ligers isjust one band, then it probably isn't Coldplay, since they're playing Boston on the 13th...Coldplay isn't playing the Luna Lounge :(

It wouldn't make sense though for a secret band name to be used twice, in a one week period. Word would get out.

Either way, let's hope the Ligers aren't Stellastarr, cause I bought tickets for the bowery show, and would hate to of given up my friday to see another mediocre over-hyped new york fashionista band.

We are pleased to announce that we have just finished recording our second album which will come out in the US this August on RCA. We will be touring again in September. Stay tuned for the UK release date and touring plans coming soon.

For those of you in NYC, we will be debuting our new songs under the name The Ligers this Friday (5/20) at The Bowery Ballroom. It is a party called NY2LON including The Hong Kong, The Ordinary Boys and Amusement Parks on Fire.

Good God the fucking Ligers are TERRIBLE. The only good move Stellastarr made all night was calling themselves by another name. Seriously, people - open up your ears. This is fucking shite. Maybe their debut album was decent, but they are a miserable live band and the new album can best be previewed as being called utterly tuneless.
